The Delphic Cultural Heritage Days aspire to become an International Intellectual Forum, where people of the Letters and the Arts will gather each year to talk, exchange ideas, explore and propose solutions to shared problems, as well as demonstrate their achievements in the field of thought, arts and culture in general.
Among the ambitious goals Delphic Cultural Heritage Days have set for the future are:
…also to contribute to making Delphi, surrounding municipalities, and the wider region a place:
Angelos Sikelianos (1884-1951), poet, author and playwright, was one of the most emblematic figures in the intellectual life of our country during the first half of the 20th century. His work enriched Greek letters, while his contribution to the formation of the general spiritual ambience of the times was indeed decisive, and its reverberation resonates until today.
Ancient Greek intellectual legacy was of great interest to Sikelianos and contributed to the inception of the idea to create in Delphi a global intellectual nucleus, which would creatively utilise the antitheses of the peoples; the ‘Delphic Idea’.
The Delphic Cultural Heritage Days 2021 took place from June 11 to July 11, 2021, in six areas: Delphi, Sykia, Lefkada, Salamis Island, Aegina and Athens. The events are dedicated to Angelos Sikelianos and his work, while also approaching the decisive role of Eva Palmer in their common vision for the Delphic Festivals, as well as her contribution to their realisation. The parallel activities include workshops with the participation of local cultural institutions and associations.
We embark to revive Angelos Sikelianos’ “Delphic Idea” and create a global intellectual nucleus based upon the poet’s legacy.
